FINDING A CHURCH IS HARD

We know that finding a good church is one of the biggest decisions you can make. We’ve put together some information that both anticipates and tries to briefly answer some of the questions you may have before visiting Moss Bluff Baptist Church for the first time; hopefully, this will ease some concerns and answer some pressing questions:

PARKING

Beyond handicapped identified parked spaces, you are welcome to park anywhere you can find a spot. Because we are a rural church, you will note our parking areas consist of grass and dirt! Find a patch and park your vehicle!

ATMOSPHERE

Dress comfortably; this is not a fashion show. God cares more about the content of our hearts and character than our wardrobes. You will find various clothing styles during our Sunday service, from khaki pants and collared shirts to blue jeans and T-shirts.   Bring your coffee or water (covered please), and make yourself at home. Sit anywhere that is open. Baptists notoriously sit towards the back of the sanctuary, hence the monicker "back row baptists" - know that you are welcome to come closer to the front; there is nothing to fear.

FAMILY-FRIENDLY

We love children; we believe they are the future of our Church and our nation! Please know that your children are welcome in our midst, and a crying baby or rambunctious toddler will not offend us. The majority of us either have raised children or are currently raising children. We have a children's sermon during our service so our pastor can engage your children and teach them Biblical truth. We have a nursery available for babies.  All our volunteers must receive background checks via the Marion County Baptist Association.

SERMON

From the pulpit, you will hear expository preaching. Pastor James preaches through entire books of the Bible, line by line, thought by thought. Sunday Morning and Wednesday night, we will be working through books of the Bible. Topical sermons are the exception during holidays or special events. At Moss Bluff, we want to create a Biblically literate community, so we study entire books and then connect them to the larger Biblical narrative.

MUSIC

Here at Moss Bluff Baptist Church, we prioritize worshipping the Lord with doctrinally sound music that is "God-elevating" and not "me-elevating." We are focused on the great hymns of our past while mixing in limited contemporary arrangements. We are open to all music; however, we prayerfully consider the theological messages we put into our minds and the words we are elevating before the Lord, not popularity and what is trending on iTunes! If you have musical gifts and talents, know that you are needed! As a small church, we are always looking to improve our music program to glorify God and encourage the saints.

A SPECIAL NOTE FOR INTROVERTS

Introverts worry about many things; let's help ease some of those concerns for you! When you visit Moss Bluff, we don't make you stand up, publicly introduce yourself, force you to talk to people, or do anything that will drive you into a social anxiety-induced panic!  We do hope you will find our Church is naturally friendly and the people engaging.  We hope friendships will come naturally at their own pace and in their way.
