FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What version of the Bible do you use?

We are not committed to any particular translation; instead, we encourage our church family to compare multiple translations. From the pulpit, Pastor James currently preaches from the New American Standard Bible (NASB), but he also compares multiple translations (NIV, ESV, CSB, KJV, NASB, NLT, LSB) during weekly sermon prep.  Some Baptist churches are King James Only - we are not that church. Bring a translation you can understand; the main thing is you are in the Word of God! If you don't have a Bible or need help finding a solid translation, let Pastor James know so we can help.

Are you Southern Baptist?

We are a local and completely autonomous congregation; however, we cooperate with other theologically like-minded churches in the Southern Baptist Convention, Florida Baptist Convention, and Marion County Baptist Association. We believe we can truly do more "together," when we partner with our fellow Baptists and pool our resources to accomplish greater things for the Kingdom of God.

Why do I need to come to Church? Can I watch it online?

If you are a Christian, God has called you to live in a community with fellow believers. As we gather together weekly to worship God, sit under the preaching of the Word of God, equip ourselves for Kingdom work, and fellowship together, we can stand united against the forces of darkness seeking to destroy our lives, families, and country. Life is hard - we all need each other as we navigate the trials of life. Additionally, God describes His Church as a body - everyone plays a role and a part. The Bible says that God has gifted each Christian in some particular way with spiritual giftings, and He expects you to use those gifts to serve others! Watching Church online is okay when you are sick or otherwise unable to gather with your church family; however, it is not a substitute for true Biblical fellowship and service.  None of this is about you - it is all about others.

How can I support what God is doing at Moss Bluff Baptist Church?

We have an online giving button in the upper right of the website; we also collect a cash offering during the service.  A copy of our budget is available upon request.  Because our Pastor is bi-vocational, the vast majority of funds collected go directly back into paying the church bills,  funding ministry expenses, local and world missions, and completing modernization projects for our facility.  We are a non-profit organization and all gifts are tax-deductible and greatly appreciated.
